I mean this as a good thing, but couples coaching with Blaze was nothing like I thought it would be when my wife told me we needed it. To be honest, I never would have done this on my own. Once upon a time, there were two foxes in love. They were adorable, quirky, and totally head-over-heels — but also a little clumsy when it came to the serious side of relationships. Blaze is attentive, patient, and always helps with our issues. From the start, it was clear that he’s genuinely interested in us and truly wants to help us succeed. We always feel comfortable in sessions and really look forward to them each week. Our communication has already improved so much. One of our favorite activities is the conversation jar. We even came up with a creative twist in session to use three colors of sticky notes — one for light topics, one for serious topics, and one for sexual topics. It’s been such a fun way to open up to each other and break out of old routines.Remember when we used to sit at dinner glued to our phones like zombies? What were we thinking?! Now, thanks to Blaze’s digital detox ideas, we’ve learned how to “turn off work and turn on each other” (love that). It’s simple, refreshing, and so much better than scrolling. We’ve even taken to using a “talking stick” to give each other space to share without interrupting — which, let’s be honest, is not my best attribute. It’s been especially meaningful to see Stan embrace these changes, given his tough upbringing. I’m so proud of him and how far we’ve come as a couple. We’re excited to keep going on this journey. You know that feeling like this is as good as it can get? That’s where I was. I love my husband, but we were both settling instead of working on making things better. We were just going through the motions and I was scared we were heading for disaster. I guess I just missed how things used to feel when we first fell in love.
